Commander, Navy Installations Command, Vice Adm. Scott Gray, announced in a message Feb. 21 that Naval Air Station Whiting Field was the Navy’s top pick in the small installation category for the CNIC 2024 Installation Excellence Award program.
Commander, Navy Region Southeast (CNRSE) Rear Adm. Wesley McCall, and Naval Air Station Whiting Field recently congratulated the winners of the 2022 Fire and Emergency Services award competition. In addition to naming the region firefighter and fire officer of the year, the admiral recognized Gulf Coast Fire and Emergency Services, consolidated NAS Pensacola and NAS Whiting Field, as Fire Department of the Year, Large Category.
Lt. Justin Heinen, a member of Whiting Field Station One, Fire and Emergency Services Gulf Coast, was enjoying his weekend with his daughters at Sky Zone Pensacola, an indoor trampoline park, when he observed a crowd around a woman in distress on the ground. Without hesitation, Heinen approached her to provide the initial response to stabilize her until the ambulance arrived.
Naval Air Station (NAS) Whiting Field recently announced the outstanding Sailors of the Quarter for Third Quarter 2022. Petty Officer 1st Class Saeed Holmes, Petty Officer 2nd Class Christopher Dame, and Petty Officer 3rd Class Collin Heckler were selected Sailor, Junior Sailor, and Blue Jacket of the Quarter, respectively.
