Children from NAVSTA Newport CYP created door decorations with holiday messages as a way to welcome back residents of the unaccompanied housing quarters from annual leave and special liberty. This project was a collaboration between UH staff and CYP staff to lift the spirits of residents.
The 11,000-pound U.S.S. Constellation anchor was removed from its display area alongside the Naval War College Museum today in order to transport the artifact to Mystic, CT for restoration. The Constellation was homeported here from 1894 to 1946, serving as a training vessel at the installation. Today, the ship is a museum in Baltimore's Inner Harbor.
