OKINAWA, Japan (Nov. 25, 2024) – The submarine tender USS Emory S. Land (AS 39) conducted a change of command ceremony aboard the ship while ported in Okinawa, Japan, Nov. 25.
Capt. Kenneth Holland, from Tulsa, Okla., relieved Capt. Brent Spillner, from Cary, Ill., as Emory S. Land’s commanding officer during the ceremony.
YOKOSUKA, Japan – Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 15 returned to Yokosuka, Japan Nov. 22 following deployments aboard USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) and USS George Washington (CVN 73).
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Brunei (NOV 18, 2024) – The U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, and Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) commenced Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) Brunei 2024, Nov. 18. CARAT Brunei 2024 is a bilateral exercise designed to promote regional security, cooperation, maintain and strengthen maritime partnerships, and enhance interoperability between the two nations.
The submarine tender Emory S. Land (AS 39) departed from Busan, South Korea after a regularly scheduled port call, Nov. 18. Busan was the 11th port call of Emory S. Land’s current deployment, which began May 17.
PHILIPPINE SEA (Nov. 17, 2024) – The four strike fighter squadrons of Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 5 departed the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73) and returned to Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni this week, with the primary fly-off taking place on Nov. 17, 2024.
