The Ministry of Defense Advisers (MoDa) program is designed to forge long term relationships that strengthen a partner state’s defense ministry. The program matches senior Department of Defense civilians with partner-identified requirements. The advisers deploy for up to two years under the auspices of the Civilian Expeditionary Workforce. While deployed, the advisers exchange expertise with foreign counterparts in similar defense specialties. Footage includes an interview with Zalmai Yawar. Zalmai is a student at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana who volunteered to help conduct training for the members of the Ministry of Defense Advisers Program to learn the languages and customs they would be using while deployed overseas.
