22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit Marines with the assault element board the USNS Robert E. Peary by rigid hull inflatable boats while the security element boards via fast rope from a CH-53E Super Stallion with Marine Medium Tilt Rotor Squadron 263 (Reinforced) during a simulated vessel board, search and seizure exercise. Marines conduct VBSS training operations before certification during the deployment to enhance mission capabilities. The Marines and Sailors of the 22nd MEU are currently deployed with Amphibious Ready Group and will continue to train and improve the MEU's ability to operate as a cohesive and effective Marine Air Ground Task Force.
