Patriot Academy Soldier, Pvt. Trevor Hirby of Conway, Ark discusses his participation as a mentor to middle school students through the "Red, White and Blue Program," and his own pursuit to complete high school.
The "Red, White and Blue Program" expands educational opportunities for middle school students in an overnight summer/weekend program at the campus of the Patriot Academy. Also available in high definition.
Students arrived Wednesday, August 3rd and were paired with Soldiers who mentored them throughout the week. Nine students received certificates of completion and awards on Friday, August 5th. Throughout the course, middle school students eat in a military dining facility, participate in military education and briefings and sleep in Army barracks.
On Tuesday, August 16, 2011, Franklin Community Middle School students will return to school with new found motivation after a few intense days of character development, education, physical training, career preparation and positive mentoring.
