Members of the International Women's Forum (IWF) participated in an orientation program to explain U.S. Africa Command's mission and programs September 8, 2011.
IWF is a global organization of women aimed at advancing women's leadership across careers, cultures and continents by connecting the world's most prominent women of significant and diverse achievements.
Heidi Kuhn, IWF member said that she felt that it was an honor and a privilege to be invited to AFRICOM and that the visit helped in articulating a new equation for the world-military forces and market forces coming together.
One of the main purposes of this visit was to create a dialogue and expose influential audiences to AFRICOM's mission in Africa.

Following the International Symposium on partnership, security and development September 7th to the 8th in Algeria, General Carter Ham attended a press conference along with U.S. Ambassador to Algeria Henry Ensher and U.S. State Department Office of the Coordinator for Counter Terrorism Shari VillaRosa.
The symposium was attended by the regional partners (Algeria - Mali - Mauritania - Niger) and others from outside the region
