Over 50 Alaska National Guard members arrived in Cordova, AL Jan. 8, in response to a request from the State Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Members of the 761st Military Police Company spent the evening training in preparation for the upcoming mission. Subject matter experts were brought in to stress the importance of safety and teach the soldiers to properly use snow removal tools such as harnesses. The guard members are working through a prioritized list from the EOC and will start clearing city buildings as soon as possible.
