Brigadier General Jeffrey Hammond, Assistant Division Commander of Support for the 1st Cavalry Division, talks from Baghdad to reporter at WLS in Chicago. Says US troops are well and looking forward to the election, have done their jobs well in pressing insurgents, and the division is planning its return to the States in a couple of months. Says security for the elections is the entire focus for US forces; says US troops have executed over 270 combat missions, captured over 800 insurgents, and found over 110 weapons caches; says troops aren't perfect though and he does expect an increase in violence over the next 48 hours. Says each day is a test of will for the Iraqis but better because they're getting more confident. Says 2nd Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division troops have been extended twice in Iraq and what time all US troops leave is up to military leaders. Video from 122nd Mobile Public Affairs Detachment.
