Structured Self Development:
The Army Reserve is taking a new approach to career management. Structured self-development, or SSD, is an Army-wide program developed by the Sergeants Major Academy to assist Soldiers - active, Reserve and national guard - achieve professional and technical success as they move through the non-commissioned officer ranks. Sgt. 1st Class Jerry Whitehead, USARC G-3/5/7 Operations NCO (Individual Training), explains the SSD concept.
NFL Star Visits USARC Headquarters:
Baltimore Ravens fullback Vonta Leach came to Headquarters, USARC because he wanted to meet and greet Army Reserve soldiers. Leach is originally from Rowland, NC, on the North/South Carolina border approximately 60 miles from Fort Bragg.
Going Down Without Using the Stairs or Elevator:
The relocation to Fort Bragg from Fort McPherson opens a wide range of
training sites and activities not available at the old headquarters duty
station in Atlanta. This month, USARC G-1 arranged for NCOPD training at
the Fort Bragg Range 85rapelling tower. NCO's from the directorate arranged for instructors from the U.S. Army Civil Affairs and Psychological
Operations Command (Airborne) to provide training and oversight of the
activity. It was definitely not training as usual.
