BUT U.S. NAVY INTELLIGENCE BROKE SECRET CODES DETAILING THE ATTACK AND AMBUSHED THE JAPANESE NAVY. AMERICA EMERGED VICTORIOUS AT MIDWAY AND HISTORIANS SAY IT TURNED THE TIDE OF THE WAR IN THE PACIFIC…
SB: “it is fitting because this was the place that our nation was thrust into war. So as we reflect we reinforce our naval history. Those who fought before us at midaway set through their own personal examples a high standard, personal sacrifice and courage under fire that we aspire to in our naval service today”- Rear Admiral James Caldwell Commander, Submarine Force, U.S. Pacific
70 YEARS LATER ON THE USS ARIZONA MEMORIAL SERVICE MEMBERS GATHERED TO PAY TRIBUTE TO THOSE WHO SERVED SO BRAVELY IN WINNING ONE OF THE MOST CRITICAL FIGHTS IN U.S. MILITARY HISTORY
Rear Admiral James Caldwell Commander, Submarine Force, U.S. Pacific
NEARLY THREE THOUSAND U-S SERVICE MEMBERS DIED DURING THE BATTLE OF MIDWAY. CEREMONIES SUCH AS THIS ONE HELP ENSURE THAT THEIR SACRIFICE AND A LEGACY OF HEROISM WILL LIVE FOREVER. NICK TOVO, PEARL HARBOR HAWAII
