Many heroes have been born throughout the 101st Airborne Division's (Air Assault) 70 years of existence. From the beaches of Normandy, to the sands of Afghanistan, many have paid the ultimate sacrifice. The memorial service held during the division's Week of the Eagle celebration pays tribute to the fallen during peacetime and times of war. Honoring the ones who died for their country includes the 200 plus Soldiers that died when their plane went down over Gander Lake in Newfoundland.
