Daniel Abel, 1st Coast Guard District commander, fly over Long Island, N.Y. after Hurricane Sandy made landfall Oct. 30, 2012. The Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod, Mass., HC-144 flight covered nearly the entire southern edge of Long Island and many effected areas along the coast.
