DOD Matches Capabilities with FEMA in NJ, NY Hurricane Sandy Response.

WRIGHTSTOWN- Joint Task Force Civil Support (JTF-CS) is deployed to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, NJ., as coordination element responsible for Title 10 support to New Jersey and greater New York relief efforts following Hurricane Sandy. The response force is commanded by U.S Army Maj. Gen. Jeff W. Mathis III, Joint Force Land Component Command (JFLCC) Coordination Element.
JTF-CS, headquartered at Joint Base Langley Eustis, Va. was assigned this mission because of the unit's proximity to the affected region and their rapid readiness to respond. Mathis accompanied US Army Lt. Gen. William B. Caldwell, IV, Commander U.S. Army North, (5th Army) on N.Y. and N.J. situation update visits Nov. 3rd.
