SPC Alexander Rebling 34th Army Band Duty Station: Fairfield, Iowa Hometown: Brighton, Iowa Soldier Show Performer
Iowa Army National Guard SPC Alex Rebling is “uber pumped” about being in the 2013 U.S. Army Soldier Show. “This is like the dream job that I have always wanted since I was a kid,” he said. “I make my own vocabulary when I’m excited,” he added with a laugh. The Urban Dictionary actually defines “uber pumped” as “the cool way to say very excited.” Rebling’s grandfather, a retired Army CW4, told him about the Soldier Show when he was about 10 years old. “I always thought that would be something kind of cool,” Rebling recalls. “Even though I wanted to do it at that age, I didn’t really pay much attention because I was just a small farm kid from Iowa. I wasn’t really expecting to get this far.” Rebling joined the Army in 2010 and quickly got into the 34th Army Band. From there, it did not take him long to work his way into the Soldier Show. A guitarist who can sing, Rebling also plays bass, piano, trombone and percussion. “Everything to make a rock band, I can play it, except cowbell,” said Rebling, 21, a big fan of guitarists Joe Satriani, Zaak Wylde and Van Halen. “But I can sing. I have a good pitch, a good ear, and a really big range. I used to be able to hit eight octaves in high school.”
