Captain Ryan M. Hunt, an infantry officer serving with 1st Battalion,
5th Marine Regiment, talks about Cpl.Gurpreet Singh, a former fire team leader
serving with the battalion who was killed in action in Sangin district, Helmand
province, Afghanistan, on June 22, 2011. Singh, a native of Punjab, India, who
immigrated to Sacramento, Calif., led his Marines through intense fighting during
the Spring Offensive and was shot on his body armor during a firefight. Singh's
family accepted the Bronze Star Medal with a Combat V on his behalf during an
