Nashville teachers are using externships with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to improve curriculum and shape project based learning for K-12 students involved in science, technology, engineering and mathematics pathways. Three high schools participated in the externships this summer and shadowed Corps scientists and engineers to give the teachers experience and exposure to processes that ultimately facilitates applied learning and prepares STEM students for the future.
