HONOLULU - Capt. Timothy M. Close, chief of staff for the 14th Coast Guard District, retired from the Coast Guard after 30 years of service at the Diamond Head Lighthouse, June 29, 2012.

Close is a 1982 graduate of the Coast Guard Academy. He is originally from Macungie, Pa. Close's previous assignments include tours in Louisiana, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Florida.
