Fort Huachuca hosts a groundbreaking ceremony for its new solar array 9 a.m.
April 25 adjacent to the Thunder Mountain Activity
    Centre Pavilion.

The Fort Huachuca Renewable Energy Project is a joint effort between the
U.S. Army Energy Initiatives Task Force , Fort Huachuca, General Services
Administration, Tucson Electric Power, and developer E.ON Climate &
    Renewables.

The project will be the largest of its kind in the Department of Defense.
This project has established a new path for an innovative partnering
opportunity between the Army, other federal agencies, private industry and
the utility provider. When completed, the array will provide about 25
percent of the annual Fort Huachuca electricity requirement.
