Marines test the HEIT (Hybrid Energy Internally Transportable Vehicle (ITV) Trailer), July 14, 2014, at Marine Corps Training Area Bellows on the island of Oahu during the Marine Corps Warfighting Lab's Advanced Warfighting Experiment. The HEIT is a concept-demonstrator that combines proven technologies in a novel way to create, scavenge, condition, store, manage, and distribute power using conventional fossil fuels, batteries, solar panels, and a variety of other sources. The intent is that it will provide a Company Landing Team with a highly mobile, MV-22 Osprey transportable electric power solution that is matched to energy demands and provides the flexibility to operate with a variety of energy sources. It is currently undergoing test extensive research and development and being tested during RIMPAC 2014. Soundbites include: Lance Cpl. Michael Fantauzzi, CLB-3 refrigeration mechanic, from Deltona, Fla., and Sgt. Atlas Harmon, senior head electrician with CLB-3 and Middletown, Del., native.
