U.S. Air Force Joint Terminal Attack Controllers from the 82d Expeditionary Air Support Operations Squadron
train eight U.S. Army Delta Company, 116th Infantry Joint Fire Observers in emergency close air support (CAS)
operations. The exercise includes aerial support from U.S. Navy MH-60S Seahawks where they provided
machine gun and rocket attacks for the live fires exercise. The weekly training is designed to teach the
infantry soldiers how to properly communicate with aircraft to coordinate airstrikes in the absence of a JTAC.
