The 412th Theater Engineer Command and numerous subordinate units converged on Ft. Chaffee Joint Maneuver Training Center in Fort Smith for the River Crossing Exercise-2014. The river crossing is the culmination of the two-week summer training period and spans a section of the Arkansas River approximately 300 meters wide just below Fort Smith.
Fort Chaffee Joint Maneuver Training Center is one of only three Department of Defense facilities in the United States where a navigable waterway passes through a portion of the installation thereby making it possible for engineers to conduct this type of bridging exercise.
