Jared Ungerer, a point man with the reconnaissance detachment, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, and Manhattan City, Kansas native, conducts rehearsal drills and physical training aboard the USS Makin Island, Sept. 14. The 11th MEU is deployed with the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group as a theater reserve and crisis response force throughout U.S. Central Command and the U.S 5th fleet area of responsibility.
