Known for being a rapidly growing large scale conventional and special operations exercise, Southern Strike 15 combined active duty and reserve forces from multiple service branches that converged on the Gulfport Mississippi CRTC. The armed forces trained together in multiple scenarios that they may see once again in a combat situation. 52 units from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard participated in the October/November 2014 exercise. The forces converged from 23 states. Featured in this story is Col. Craig Ziemba, the Southern Strike 15 Exercise Director. Ziemba is a member of the 186th Air Refueling Wing in Meridian, Miss.
