U.S. Marines with Aircraft Rescue Firefighting (ARFF), respond to a staged downed aircraft with approximately ten casualties during Exercise Active Shield 2011, Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan. Active Shield 2011 is an annual U.S.-Japan combined exercise designed to increase bilateral coordination in support of Installation Force Protection Operations and strengthen cooperation between U.S. military forces and Japan Self Defense Forces in support of Japan-U.S. security alliance.
