Soldiers with the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) and U.S. Marines with 3rd Battalion 5th Marine Regiment and the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (13th MEU) participate in a bilateral training event displaying the capabilities of Amphibious Assault Vehicles on desert terrain during Exercise Iron Fist 15 (IF 15), aboard Camp Pendleton, California, February 14, 2015. IF 15 is an annual bilateral training exercise the U.S Marines and the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, designed to increase interoperability and enhance military-to-military relations.
