Georgia National Guard’s Region 4 Homeland Response Force participated in the first full day of Vigilant Guard South Carolina 2015 with federal and local first responders focusing on
extraction, medical and public safety support to the Choppee community in Georgestown, SC.
The notional scenario is recovery for citizens who have been hit by ‘Hurricane Zephyr’ a category 4 storm which left miles of destruction requiring multiagency assistance in the aftermath for recovery.
The domestic operations focused interagency field training exercise included mass casualty, water purification, wellness checks and set up of emergency relief supply distribution points. Visiting the Soldiers to review operations was the National Guard Bureau Chief, Gen. Frank Grass, along with political and military leadership and community stakeholders.
