The 21st Special Tactics Squadron, 720th Special Tactics Group, 24th Special Operations Wing, Pope Army Airfield, N.C., hosted a Central Command ceremony for 52 Special Tactics Airman to receive 71 medals, including 19 Bronze Stars and 9 Air Force Combat medals. These Special Tactics Airmen were deployed for six months to integrate air power to ground forces, embedded in the joint special operations, June to Oct. 2014. The 21 STS is the highest decorated unit in the U.S. Air Force, with four Air Force Crosses and ten Silver Stars since 9/11.
