    Rear Adm. Kevin S. Cook is relieved of command of the Coast Guard's Eighth District by Rear Adm. David R. Callahan prior to Cook retiring from 36-years service, at the Julia Street Cruise Terminal, Friday, May 15, 2015.

    Command of the Eighth District carries with it the responsibility of overseeing 26 states, shoreline from the Gulf of Mexico to the Canadian Border and all of the inland waterways within.

    The Change of Command is a time-honored ceremony which shows the continuity of command to the active duty, reserve and auxiliary members of the unit.

    In attendance were Adm. Paul Zukunft, Commandant, U.S. Coast Guard, Vice Adm. William D. Lee, Commander, Atlantic Area, Rear Adm. Kevin S. Cook (Ret.) and Rear Adm. David R. Callahan, Commander, Eighth Coast Guard District.
