Sights and sounds from Arlington National Cemetery September 15, 2015 as the Department of Defense commemorated William H. Taft’s 158th birthday. Patrick Hallinan, Executive Director of Army National Military Cemeteries and Maj. Gen. Bradley Becker, Commanding General of the U.S. Army Military District of Washington, laid a wreath at our 27th President’s grave. Taft became the first president and first Chief Justice to be buried at Arlington National Cemetery. Taft is one of two presidents buried here.
