Naval Base Guam opens 60 revitalized housing units on base after nearly a two-year project worth $25 million in upgrades as part of Phase 1 of improvements to family housing. The homes achieved a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Silver award with energy efficient heat water heaters, energy saving appliances and light fixtures. Other infrastructure projects are underway in preparation for the relocation of approximately 5,000 Marines from Okinawa.
