Here's a look from various vantage points at Eufaula Dam as they release 49,000 cfs into the Canadian River. The lake is currently at a level of 598, which is 13 feet above the top of the conservation pool and its normal elevation.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dams continue to operate as designed after heavy rains fell throughout much of the region.
The dam is allowing us to hold back a substantial portion of the inflow, and control the release of water. We are making water release decisions, as needed, to mitigate the impact of flooding downstream brought on by the several days of heavy rain.
Flood control risk reduction is the first and most significant benefit our lakes provide.
