James Meredith visits Fort Hood. Air Force veteran, James Meredith, and former military police soldiers visit Fort Hood, Texas for an African American/ Black Heritage Month observance. James Meredith was the first African American to attend the University of Miss. in 1962. His attendance at the University was met with extreme resistance and required President John F. Kennedy to use the United States military to maintain order and justice.
