Approximately 600 Soldiers from the Florida National Guard's 53rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team's 1st Battalion, 124th Infantry Regiment said farewell to their thousands of friends and family members during a departure ceremony in Fort Lauderdale, April 10. The unit is scheduled for a 12-month deployment to the Horn of Africa in support of Operation Freedom's Sentinel.
