Paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division prepare equipment and conduct combat equipment jumps from C-17 Globemaster III and C-130J Hercules aircrafts on Sicily dropzone at Pope Army Airfield, N.C., May 26, 2016. The operation was conducted during Crescent Reach 16. This local exercise tested and evaluated Joint Base Charleston’s ability to launch large aircraft formation in addition to process to deploy duty passengers and cargo in response to a simulated crisis abroad from May 16-26. Deploying members’ ability to survive and operate in deployed environments was also exercised through chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosives training and evaluation events (U.S. Air Force video by Staff Sgt.
