The Alaska Army National Guard hosts what is most likely their first-ever community event off base when they deactivate the 297th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade and active the 297th Regional Support Group during an Aug. 6, 2016, ceremony at the Delaney Park Strip located in downtown Anchorage. Col. Joseph Streff, Alaska Army National Guard commander, presides over the ceremony with Col. Lee Knowles casing his unit colors to deactivate the 297th BFSB and Lt. Col. Peter Mondelli uncasing his unit colors to activate the 297th RSG. Additionally, Alaska Gov. Bill Walker sings the new Alaska Code of Military Justice into law, and the Alaska State Defense Force hosts a change of command ceremony between Brig. Gen. (Alaska) Roger Holl and incoming commander Col. (Alaska) John James. Run Time: 6:38
