On Saturday October 8, 2016 the United States Navy welcomed USS John P.
Murtha (LPD 26) to the fleet. The commissioning was held at Penn's Landing in
Philadelphia and speakers included Vice Chief Of Naval Operations, Admiral
William Moran and Democratic Leader of the House, Nancy Pelosi. LPD-26
is named for the late congressman John P. Murtha who served 37 years
in that office.
