Hi-tech and low-tech non-lethal weapons give troops options to warn or stop civilians who may or may not pose threats at vehicle checkpoints and perimeter security areas. Troops from five nations (Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the United States) tested non-lethal weapons in scenarios mimicking real-world perimeter security and vehicle checkpoint situations. This exercise, called “NNTEX 16 L” for “NATO Non-Lethal Technological Exercise Land, 2016” took place during September and October 2016 in Camp Elsenborn Lager, in Belgium. This is the second exercise of its kind (the first being a maritime-based exercise), and it involves various non-lethal weapons and devices being put through the paces by operators. It is supported by NATO’s Defense against Terrorism Program of Work (DAT POW). Footage includes interviews with non-lethal technology experts and soldiers. This version includes graphics, but no subtitles.
