Elements of 1st Battalion, 179th Infantry Regiment and Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Oklahoma Army National Guard are currently deployed to Ukraine in support of Joint Multinational Training Group-Ukraine. The JMTG-U mission is geared towards training and professionalizing the Ukrainian army and developing Ukrainian combat training center staff. The culminating training event for the Ukrainian soldiers of 1st Battalion, 28th Mechanized Infantry Brigade is a combined-arms battalion live-fire exercise held at the Yavoriv Combat Training Center located on the International Peacekeeping and Security Center near Yavoriv, Ukraine on March 29, 2017.
