A U.S. Marine Corps CH-53E Super Stallion and a UH-1Y Venom assigned to Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One (MAWTS-1) along with U.S. Marines with 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment provide simulated foreign humanitarian assistance (FHA) during assault support tactics 3 (AST 3) as part of Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course (WTI) 2-17 at Kiwanis Park, Yuma, Ariz., April 21, 2017. AST 3 is an exercise focused on conducting noncombatant evacuation operation (NEO) in an urban environment while concurrently providing FHA to the simulated host nation. Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course (WTI) is a seven-week training event hosted by MAWTS-1 cadre, which emphasizes operational integration of the six functions of Marine Corps aviation in support of a Marine Air Ground Task Force and provides standardized advanced tactical training and certification of unit instructor qualifications to support Marine Aviation Training and Readiness and assists in developing and employing aviation weapons and tactics.
