Marines with the Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force-Crisis response-Central Command assembled and employed the 'Nibbler' while forward deployed in the Middle East, June 6-9, 2017. Over the course of four days, the Marines learned the basics of soldering, wiring, electronics, and programming in order to construct and fly the systems. The Nibbler leverages 3D printing and commercial-off-the-shelf technologies to serve as a low-cost and modifiable airborne system for Marines to utilize across all types of operations. SPMAGTF-CR-CC is currently preparing to manufacture additional Nibblers to field them to forward positions in support of its crisis response mission. (U.S. Marine Corps video by Cpl. Shellie Hall)
