This month's Wingman Wire recognizes Staff Sgt. Bayr Lukomyansky, medical technician within the 121st Fighter Squadron of the D.C. Air National Guard. Born in Leningrad, Russia, what is today the city of Saint Petersburg in 1989, Lukomyansky served as both a medic and translator during a recent humanitarian civic assistance mission to the Republic of Moldova. The video also features Jim Pettit, U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, who spoke of the importance of a robust bilateral military relationship between the U.S. and Moldova.
Since 1997, the U.S. Embassy in the Republic of Moldova's Office of Defense Cooperation has brought military personnel in defense, logistics, medicine and engineering to Eastern Europe in support of humanitarian civic assistance. Lukomyansky shared his own personal insight.
