On September 11, 2017 U.S. Customs and Border Protection Region IV Lead Field Coordinator requested the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Mobile Command Vehicle travel to Marathon FL to conduct a welfare check on the U.S. Border Patrol Marathon Station after all communications were lost due to Hurricane Irma. Office of Field Operations SRT along with the Office of Information Technology and an Agent from Air and Marine Operations were able to conduct a successful welfare check on the Agents at the station and communicate from the station parking lot utilizing satellite communications.
