Current soldiers and retirees of the 163rd Regiment celebrated their 100 year anniversary on the parade grounds of Fort Harrison, Mont. Sept. 9, 2017.
During the ceremony, Lt. Col. Michael Moreni was presented with the Order of Saint Maurice, recognizing him as an individual who has contributed significantly to the infantry.
The Order of Saint George was presented to 1st Sgt. Ronald Kentzel, recognizing him as one of the very best tankers and cavalrymen.
The Upshaw Award was presented to retired Col. Tom Harrington and retired Sgt. Maj. Todd Stewart. The award is named after Col. Joe Upshaw, a former World War II enlisted Soldier who remained in the Army National Guard after the war and rose to become the commander of the 163rd Regiment.
