Mattis arrived on a C-17 Globemaster III and proceeded to a visit with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and Defense Minister Khalid bin Mohammad Al Attiyah, following a brief visit to the U.S. Central Command Area of Responsibility. Mattis departed AUAB on an E-4B, a highly modified Boeing 747.
