Two of Puerto Rico's main bridges - one that passes over PR 177 and the other over PR 2 - have been closed for repairs due to damage sustained in Hurricane Maria and the torrential rains and runoff that followed. Mountain roads to Jayuya are also heavily damaged and mudslides continue to wash away yesterday's progress. Though isolated high up in the mountains of the interior, Jayuya is recovering. Fuel stations are being filled and there are no lines at gas stations. The downtown is full of people. The university reopened for classes on October 16th. Jayuya is home to several pharmaceutical and medical device factories and the employee parking lots are full of cars. Water is abundant in the area as roadside spigots and waterfalls fill the streams with water. Residents have always known that they should boil the water before drinking it
