The 8th Fighter Wing, located on the west coast of the peninsula, is composed of nearly 2,700 U.S. Air Force members and civilians, and includes four groups, each responsible for carrying out the wing’s operations, maintenance, support and medical functions. Named the "Wolf Pack" by Wolf 1, General Robin Olds, our mission is to Defend the Base, Accept Follow-On Forces, and Take the Fight North. We work closely with the Republic of Korea Air Force 38th Fighter Group, also located on Kunsan Air Base to defend the ROK and its 50 million citizens. The base is also home to approximately 110 U.S. Army Soldiers under the 2nd Battalion, 1st Air Defense Artillery; equipped with the Patriot Battery missile to help protect the base against missiles and advanced aircraft. This mission video showcases the 8 FW's unique mission during the pen-wide exercise VIGILANT ACE.
