Veterans in Blue is a multimedia collection showcasing men and women who have contributed to the legacy of the Air Force.
George Price served more than 26 years in the Air Force before retiring in August 1976. During his career Price received a Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal and numerous other campaign awards. After retiring as a senior master sergeant, Price began working as the American Youth Activities director at Bitburg Air Base, Germany. His transition to working with youth led him to coaching, and subsequently taking over as the athletic director for Bitburg Air Base High School. Although Price had no previous experience, his gung-ho spirit and determination inspired him to make his program the best in Europe. Some of Price’s accomplishments include 11 continental sport conference championships, four-time USAFE Outstanding Sports Director for the Year, and the first civilian inducted into USAFE's Sports Hall of Fame as the head coach with the most wins in USAFE history. On Oct. 16, 2014, after Bitburg AB was mostly relocated to Spangdahlem AB, Germany, a re-dedication ceremony took place at the Eifel Powerhaus Fitness Center at Spangdahlem AB, during which the gym was named the George Price Gymnasium. Price continues to serve as special events coordinator for the 52nd Fighter Wing at Spangdahlem AB.
