The Pacific Paradise sinks 13 miles south of Oahu, Hawaii, Dec. 7, 2017, following a near two month effort to repair, refloat and remove the vessel from the reef at Kaimana Beach. The response team progressively flooded the vessel by opening all the water tight hatches inside filling one compartment with water. As that compartment fills the water moves to the next space and so on until the weight of the water overtakes the buoyancy of the vessel. They also turned off the dewatering pumps and removed them.
