Army Mariners and crew aboard the Logistic Support Vessel, CW3 Harold C. Clinger (LSV-2) of the 605th Transportation Detachment, 8th Special Troops Battalion, unleashed a barrage of bullets during their waterborne range 40-nautical miles South of Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii.
The training familiarizes Soldiers on the M2 .50 caliber machine gun and Common Remotely Operated Weapons Station (CROWS) aboard the vessel in order to sustain combat readiness. In addition to normal marksmanship qualification on land, Army Mariners need to be able to react and defend the vessel and the crew from threats at sea.
Army watercraft provide over-the-water transportation of equipment and personnel to increase readiness of land force operations throughout the 9,000 mile wide Pacific region.
